I want to thank you so much for your in-depth substantive edit on my story. You really gave me a lot to chew on, spit out, assimilate and digest! I am in the process of making big changes in the story and I feel good about it! That is Huge for me because in the past I didn't write for one year after receiving feedback on my stories and it happened twice. So I am making progress! I so appreciate your approach in "drawing out" my talents and creativity in the questions you ask and every detail of your feedback regarding the plot, characters and pace. I find your questions very helpful and useful to stimulate the flow of the story, (or revised story) with different names and purpose. Your feedback has helped my writing more than any class or workshop I've taken relating to children's

Summer helped me with editing and proofreading a children's book manuscript as well as a recipe book and a few songs. Summer is very professional and detailed. I can tell she loves what she does and was very involved with the project - Her heart was in it!

Summer edited a children's book for my company. I chose Summer because I am familiar with her qualifications, her writing, and her work ethic. I was not at all disappointed. Her rates were reasonable, she responded to emails in a timely manner, and she delivered exactly when she said she would. Her approach was professional. Her editing and her comments on the story were insightful, she obviously dedicated herself to the job and I was very happy with her delivery. I would highly recommend her and I will be using her services again.

Thank you for this learning journey. Cutting was perhaps the hardest. You might be pleased to know that it's now down to 998 words. Without your patient insistence, I wouldn't have believed that the story could shrink so much. I have a much better sense of what it all takes now, and I share your hope that the tools will help me in future. Your critiques of 'Monty' have also helped with other writing. I'm better able to spot excess words and more inclined to cut, which results in much trimmer pieces.

Summer did a great job for us! She is an excellent writer and completed the job ahead of schedule. We will not hesitate to use her again!
I write and illustrate children's stories and poems inspired by memories of my childhood in the Caribbean island of Trinidad; I write for adults as well. I'm also a Caribbean/Caribbean diasporachildren's literature specialist and curator of a monthly Publishing Perspectives interview series which can be found here.
Here are some books that I've had the pleasure of working on. More here.
In April 2015, I’ll be co-facilitating a creative writing workshop for children with award-winning children’s illustrator Colin Bootman as part of the Bocas Lit Fest Children’s Programme. I will also be reading my children’s poetry and story to young audiences at the National Library in Trinidad. Click here to view my schedule on the Bocas Lit fest website.
