Six copies of each book are also provided in a small size for children to revisit during independent reading. Some of the books have special features such as flaps, cutouts, and foldouts to engage and excite children.The most exciting part of this collection, is not the awesome big books or the accompanying lesson plan folders, it is the set of six books the children get to use for independent reading! I use the big books for shared reading with the whole class or a small group. After we read the big book together, the group of six students get to use the small books to practice the skill we have worked on. They are so excited to have a small book that matches the big book we have read together. This has definitely helped them build confidence in reading."
